Real Market Liquidity: How Prop Firms Can Hedge Funded Accounts

Prop firms have spent the last year getting more generous – higher splits, instant funding, payouts in minutes. Every one of those moves is good for traders and expensive for the firm, because each one raises the cost of carrying a funded trader who wins. And that reopens the oldest question in the business: when a funded trader makes money, where does the payout actually come from?
For most firms, the honest answer is “challenge revenue, and a reserve we hope is big enough.” Real Market Liquidity is a different answer: the market.
The idea
Real Market Liquidity lets a prop firm route the funded traders it chooses into the live market, through a single hedge account at FX-EDGE. When one of those traders makes money, the profit lands on that account as real balance – and the payout is paid from there, not from the fees the firm collects selling challenges.
The idea is simple: route the funded flow you choose into the real market, and let the market pay the traders who win. It is not a way to offload every funded account without risk – routed losses still come off your balance – but for the flow you do route, a winning trader’s profit becomes real, market-settled money that funds their withdrawal, instead of coming out of your challenge revenue. How much of your book you route, and which accounts, is entirely your call.
How it works
You set it up once, then route the accounts you want.
- Connect. Your funded accounts link to one hedge account at FX-EDGE.
- Deposit. You fund it with whatever you are comfortable committing – there is no set minimum and no per-account fee.
- We match it 1:1. FX-EDGE adds credit equal to your deposit, which lowers the margin your positions need. The credit is not withdrawable and it does not absorb losses; it is re-matched to your balance each day.
- Route and settle. The traders you choose trade as normal. Their positions net into one book connected straight through to live liquidity, and the account settles daily.
Margin follows your net position across all routed accounts, not the sum of every trade, and leverage runs up to 1:400 depending on the instrument class. A margin call triggers at 80%. Because everything feeds one account, you manage a single margin level rather than a spreadsheet of hedge accounts.
What the firm gets
There are four things a firm takes out of routing funded accounts to the market.
- Your split, as cash. A routed trader’s profit sits on your hedge account as real balance. You release the trader’s share and keep yours – on a 70/30 split, the trader’s $7,000 goes out and your $3,000 stays, already settled.
- Payouts come off the hedge, not your revenue. The withdrawal is funded by the position that earned it. That is exactly the capital pressure that breaks firms during a strong month for traders.
- Revenue share. FX-EDGE pays a share on the P&L routed through your hedge account, agreed case by case.
- Institutional conditions. 1:1 credit, leverage up to 1:400, an 80% margin call – pricing and terms built for prop flow rather than retail.
What stays with you
It is worth being plain about where the risk sits. You choose which accounts to route and which to keep internal, and you can adjust that mix as you go. A routed trader’s profit is paid by the market, but a routed trader’s loss comes off your hedge balance, and any negative balance is covered by you, not FX-EDGE. Routing is a decision you make against your own book and risk appetite, not a switch you flip once for the whole business.
Your rules stay yours, too. Drawdown limits, breach handling and payout conditions are enforced on your platform by your team. FX-EDGE services the aggregate hedge account and its single margin level; it does not touch your challenge mechanics.
Which accounts you route, and how many, is your lever – not ours.
Who can connect
Any platform works, on one condition: FX-EDGE needs visibility into the routed accounts – through investor access or our CRM – to confirm the flow is funded prop trading rather than retail. On Match-Trader that visibility is already there, which makes it the fastest route; on other setups we agree how the account data is shared before connecting.
Tell us which traders you would hedge and what you would fund, and we will come back with leverage, spreads and a revenue share. Let the market pay them.
FAQ
What is Real Market Liquidity for prop firms?
Real Market Liquidity is a funded-phase hedging model from FX-EDGE. A prop firm routes the funded accounts it chooses into the live market through a single hedge account, and the profit a routed trader makes settles on that account as real balance – which is what funds their payout, instead of it coming out of challenge revenue.
How do prop firms hedge funded accounts with FX-EDGE?
You connect your funded accounts to one hedge account, fund it at a level you choose, and FX-EDGE matches your deposit 1:1 in credit to lower margin requirements. The traders you select trade as normal, their positions net into one book connected to live liquidity, and the account settles daily. You decide which accounts to route; the rest stay on your own book.
Is there a fee per funded account?
No. There is no per-account fee and no cap on how many funded accounts you route. FX-EDGE earns through a revenue share on the P&L routed through your hedge account, agreed case by case, rather than a fixed charge per account.
Which funded traders should a prop firm route to the market?
You decide. Route a single account, a segment of your funded book, or all of it – there is no cap on how many accounts you connect, and you can adjust the mix as you go. Routed profits are paid by the market and routed losses come off your hedge balance, so the right selection depends on your own book and risk approach rather than a rule FX-EDGE imposes.
What happens when a routed trader loses?
The loss comes off your balance on the hedge account, and any negative balance is covered by the prop firm, not FX-EDGE. This is why you keep full control over which accounts you route rather than connecting your whole book without a second thought.
How much does a prop firm need to deposit?
The funding level is set by you – there is no fixed minimum. FX-EDGE matches whatever you deposit 1:1 in credit, so a $40,000 deposit gives you $80,000 of equity to margin positions against. The credit is not withdrawable and does not absorb losses, and it is re-matched to your balance each day.
What leverage and margin terms apply?
Leverage runs up to 1:400 depending on the instrument class – majors, metals, indices and crypto are treated differently – with a margin call at 80%. Margin follows your net position across all routed accounts rather than the sum of every trade, so you manage one margin level instead of many.
Does Real Market Liquidity work with MetaTrader and platforms other than Match-Trader?
Yes. Any platform works, as long as FX-EDGE has visibility into the routed accounts – through investor access or the FX-EDGE CRM – to confirm the flow is funded prop trading rather than retail. On Match-Trader that visibility is already in place, which makes it the fastest route; on other setups, how the account data is shared is agreed before connecting.
Who handles challenge rules, breaches and payouts?
You do. Drawdown limits, breach handling and payout conditions stay on your platform, enforced by your team. FX-EDGE services the aggregate hedge account and its single margin level, and does not touch your challenge mechanics.
